The Yorba Linda Star Death Notices and Obituaries, 1920-1929, Vol. I
Published by the Genealogical Society of North Orange County California
The Yorba Linda Star newspaper was first published in La Habra, Orange County, California by a Mr. Douglas. In 1915, he moved his printing equipment to Yorba Linda, Orange County, California (birthplace of President Richard Nixon) and began publishing. Sometime later he sold the paper to Charles Vernon who remained editor and publisher until the 1940's. Ray Cook, a printer for Mr. Vernon, leased the paper and was editor and publisher for six months. Management of the paper was taken over by Mr. P.S. Lucas in the late 1940's. In the late 1950's the paper was sold to Mr. Bill Drake. The first five years of the Star were not saved, so the first entry on the microfilm is March 24, 1920. The last entry for this volume is December 27, 1929.
The obituaries contained in this book are a genealogical and historical gold mine! Obituaries are of tremendous value because they not only tell the tale of local people but also of their friends and relations in other parts of the country.
