Luana Darby is a professional genealogist. lecturer and educator who lives in West Jordan, Utah with her husband and children. She has over 35 years of genealogical experience. Graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in Family History and later receiving a master’s degree in Library Science from San Jose State University, she brings a broad base of knowledge and experience to her clients and audience. She is the owner of Lineages by Luana, a genealogical research company which focuses on US/Canada and Western European research. She has lectured at many genealogical and historical conferences, including NGS. FGS, RootsTech, UGA, BYU and ICAPGen.
After land moved from government ownership to individual ownership, the transfer of property was handled at the local level, primarily by the counties, using deeds. We will continue our exploration of land through the use of deeds. You will learn how to locate land records, what to look for, and what you might find. Presenter: Jamie Lee McManus Mayhew is a California genealogy speaker who previously lived in Yorba Linda and was once president of GSNOCC. She speaks on a wide variety of topics including, land records, homesteading, the FamilySearch website and its components, newspapers, census records, and DNA. She is a member of NGS, APG, the Genealogical Speakers Guild, DAR, and various local and state societies. She is secretary of the APG Writers SIG, on the Genealogical Speakers Guild webinar committee, and coordinator of PROGEN 47. Previous leadership positions include serving as President of APG: Southern California Chapter, President of the California State Genealogical Alliance, President of the Genealogical Society of North Orange County California (GSNOCC), and member of the FamilySearch Wiki Community Council.
